What is a 4D ultrasound?
The latest in medical imaging, four-dimensional (4D) ultrasound is real-time motion added to 3D images resulting in amazing, life-like images of your baby’s surface anatomy, motion and behavior. The results are truly amazing...live action images of your unborn baby.
Do I still need an ultrasound at my doctor's office?
YES! All of our prospective mothers must already be receiving prenatal care from a physician. In addition, they must also have already undergone a medical, diagnostic ultrasound ordered by their physician to confirm due date and screen for fetal abnormalities and other pregnancy-related issues. At no time is this exam to be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound.
Are there any risks to me or my baby?
NO! Extensive studies over 30 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Our 4D scanning is the same type and intensity as that used with conventional 2D scanning. 4D ultrasound utilizes sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image.
Who performs the exam?
Your 4D ultrasound be performed by a fully-trained and licensed sonographer.
Do I need an appointment?
YES. You may contact us at our office to make an appointment.
When is the best time to have a 4D Ultrasound?
Excellent images of your baby can be obtained anytime around the 28th week of your preganancy. If you plan on having only one 4D ultrasound examination we recommend having the examination performed between the 26th and 34th week of your pregnancy. Many mothers, however, obtain more than one 4D ultrasound and have images to enjoy from their second and third trimesters.
How long does the 4D ultrasound take?
Your 4D ultrasound session will last between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the package you select..
How can I be assured of great pictures?
Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother's condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen. No guarantee can be made that the images will be similar to those seen elsewhere.
Can I bring my family and friends?
YES. This is an amazing experience that can and should be shared with your family and friends. We encourage you to invite your family and friends to attend your elective 4D ultrasound session. We can comfortably accommodate multiple guests in our special seating area. Everyone will have an excellent view of the large screen 4D images of your baby.
Is the 4D Ultrasound covered by Insurance?
NO. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for the ultrasound ordered by your physician, you will need to pay the cost of this ultrasound as an out of pocket expense. We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and debit cards.
